    Description: District/school leaders and educational teams will explore & unpack SLD legislation, myths/facts, policies & procedures, practices, & access (equity) when conducting SLD evaluations. Participants will also connect SLD evaluation practices with Dyslexia Law requirements.

    Objectives:

    • Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the legislative requirements for Specific Learning Disability (SLD)
    • Participants will unpack myths and facts relating to identification practices (throughout the training)
    • Participants will leverage Ohio’s Plan Each Child Means Each Child to explore issues of equity relating to identification practices
    • Considerations for SLD identification for students who present with competing concerns (g., twice exceptional, mental health, dyslexia profile, etc.)
    • Participants will engage in community of practice activities with other colleagues around local control (district/school), policies & procedures for identification

    Recommended Audience:

    Educators in leadership roles such as:

    • curriculum directors
    • special education directors/administrators
    • building administrators
    • related services providers
    • school psychologists
    • coaches
    • teacher leaders

    * It is highly encouraged that participants attend as teams, and teams should include at least 1 individual who has decision-making capacity within the school or district.

    Description: This session will be an opportunity to celebrate Hamilton, Clermont, Butler, and Warren Bronze, Silver, Gold, and District award winners of the 2022 Ohio PBIS Recognition System.

    It will also provide participants with the opportunity to network with others around PBIS practices and implementation.

    Objectives:

    • Participants will have the opportunity to network with PBIS colleagues in the region
    • Participants will hear about and ask questions to PBIS practices in Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award winning buildings in the region.

    Recommended Audience: Ohio PBIS team award winners, as well as district and building PBIS coaches, administrators, team members

    Implementing Effective PBIS Classroom Systems

    Description: This training will provide a more detailed look at classroom practices. PBIS coaches, administrators, team members, and other classroom practice leaders engage in the professional learning necessary to install and coach the identified classroom practices/components in a systemic, efficient, and effective way.

    Objectives: After training, participants will be able to

    • Create a system for supporting teachers through coaching the classroom component module
    • Identify the practices within the classroom components
    • Be prepared to collect data specific to the module
    • Identify and provide technical assistance to teachers in need of more support
    • Train the components to school/district staff

    Recommended Audience: PBIS coaches, administrators, PBIS Tier 1 team members, and other classroom practice leaders
