    Description: This professional development series builds knowledge of (1) the Science of Reading to understand how reading develops and (2) instructional approaches to supporting language comprehension in the middle grades.

    Objectives:

    • Build background knowledge of the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy​
    • Explore and practice specific instructional practices to support language comprehension across the content areas in grades 5-8
    • Collaborate with peers to prepare for implementation of new practices in the next school year

    Recommended Audience: ELA and Content Area teachers in grades 5-8, ESOL Teachers, Reading Intervention Teachers , Special Education Teachers, Building Administrators
