Southwest Ohio Regional Exceptional Student and Educator Award Nominations are being accepted

Nominations are now being accepted for students and educators in Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren counties.

The purpose of the student award is to acknowledge outstanding achievements of students with disabilities. Nominees must be of age 3 through 21 and enrolled in a school program in Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, or Warren counties. Nominations must include information about the student’s achievements in the areas of academics, arts, athletics, community service, employment, extracurricular activity, or independent living skills.

Nomination forms will be reviewed by staff members of State Support Team 13. A winner will be chosen from each of the four counties mentioned above. One of the county winners will advance to represent the region in the statewide RA Horn Outstanding Student competition.

The exceptional educator award honors an educator or team of educators who have made outstanding contributions by improving access to, and progress within the general curriculum for students with disabilities. Each nominee must be currently employed as an educator or staff member by a public school district, a chartered nonpublic school, parochial school, a state operated program, or a county board of DD in Butler, Clermont, Hamilton or Warren counties. Nominees may include certified and non-certified staff members. Nominations must include information on the impact the nominee(s) has/have had on the quality of life and learning for children with disabilities and how the nominee(s) is/are an exceptional candidate(s) for this award.

Nomination forms will be reviewed by staff members of State Support Team 13. A winner will be chosen from each of the four counties mentioned above. One of the county winners will advance to represent the region in the statewide Franklin B. Walter Outstanding Educator competition.
